Steve House

I am a designer and educator with 18 years of creative industry experience, working in the UK and Australia.

After graduating from London College of Comunication I worked with TBWA/London, Lloyd Northover, Aqueduct, and Luminous, I then moved to Sydney and worked with Landor, Frost and Marlin, before founding the creative agency Ten Thousand. In complement to my ongoing creative practice I work as Senior Lecturer and Head of Final Year for BA Graphic Design at Falmouth University.

I have previously led undergraduate and postgraduate courses at UTS – University of Technology Sydney, Enmore Design Centre, and Shillington at their Sydney and London campuses.

My ongoing creative work with a diverse client list in the UK and Australia has been awarded and exhibited, and insight from this practice complements and strengthens my activity as an educator. My background in working for multidisciplinary studios and running my own agency continues to successfully inform my approach to the design of stimulating, challenging and supportive learning experiences for students.

I studied at LCC – University of the Arts London, where I was awarded HND Typographic Design and BA(Hons) Graphic Design. More recently, I completed a PGCHE and am currently completing a Masters in Education at University of Bath.

Alongside my creative practice and my work as an educator, I am responsible for ongoing research-led projects NowHere / Re:Work / School of Unlearning / New Noise.

I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts in 2017, and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2020; I am also a member of D&AD and AGDA. I hold dual citizenship for Australia and the UK.
